Heywood's history is linked to the cotton trade, the Industrial Revolution, and other major British events.

The town was once the 15th largest centre of cotton spinning in the country. Heywood's industrial heritage includes cotton mills, woollen mills, roperies, and iron works.

Mutual Mills, the largest of the cotton mills in Heywood is Grade II listed and a short distance from Aspinall Gardens.

Aspinall Gardens is 1 mile from Junction 19 of the M62 which links onto the M60 and a short drive (5-7 miles) to the rural areas of the Pennines making it a great location for the countryside, Manchester City centre or further afield on the motorway network.

The bungalows are within a short distance to many local shops, supermarkets, schools and amenities whether in wheelchair, on foot or via vehicle. Heywood Sports Village is half a mile away.

The East Lancs Railway station at Heywood is 600m from Aspinall Gardens where old steam trains run into the Rossendale Valley on certain trip days.

Heywood was recently pledged £20m of government funds for improvements over the next 10 years.

Rochdale and Bury have recently had large investment plans confirmed for town centre improvements to attract more local and outside visitors.

There are superb public transport links nearby (200mm) to get further afield (main bus routes to Rochdale, Bury, Manchester) making the houses ideally placed for leisure or work commuting.£50m is to be invested in a Rochdale to Heywood to Manchester tram-train, included in the government’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement for Greater Manchester.
