1 Level Limited was established with a clear and focused purpose: to design and build high-quality, future-ready bungalow developments that meet a growing and largely unmet need within the UK housing market.
With over 30 years of experience developing new-build detached homes and commercial properties around Rochdale and Heywood, the Directors of 1 Level Limited identified a major gap in the availability of modern, well-designed bungalows — particularly those suitable for people with limited mobility or wheelchair users.
We asked a simple question:
Why can’t new-build bungalows be designed from the outset with wider doorways, level thresholds, and layouts that naturally accommodate wheelchair access — without compromising on style, comfort or quality?
So, we decided to build them.
Our aim is to create homes that are accessible, energy-efficient and beautifully designed as standard. Every property is carefully planned with wider internal doors, level access throughout, and intelligently positioned room layouts that support ease of movement and long-term living. These features are seamlessly integrated into the design so that the homes are equally suitable for both wheelchair users and able-bodied occupants.
In addition to accessibility, we believe that energy efficiency should be built in from day one — not added later as an afterthought. Our homes incorporate a full range of modern energy-saving features, delivering very low running costs while supporting sustainable and comfortable living.
Through extensive research into wheelchair-accessible housing, we quickly recognised how difficult it can be for many people to find suitable homes that truly meet their needs. Too often, individuals are (for one reason or another) faced to live in properties that limit independence, comfort and quality of life. We believe housing should improve people’s lives — not restrict them.
Our pilot development in Heywood represents the culmination of this research and commitment. We are proud to be delivering fully accessible bungalows built as close to M4(3) standards as possible, offering carefully designed models that aim to meet the needs of most wheelchair users, albeit, we recognise that some individual’s needs are more specific and require more specific facilities.
All homes are built to the highest standards and come with a 10-year structural warranty. They include the same high-quality finishes, fittings and features found in prestigious developments — with no compromise on design or comfort in order to deliver accessibility. These are homes built for everyone to enjoy on equal terms.

Mick Swift Domestic & Commercial Builders have been successfully delivering projects to satisfied clients for over 25 years. They have geographic focus in the North West and Pennine areas having completed over 500 schemes ranging from a few thousand pounds to over £1 million.
Between 1 Level Ltd and M. Swift Building, we have developed a unique approach to managing this project successfully.
M Swift Building has been Registered with NHBC (National House-Building Council), who are the leading warranty and insurance provider and standards setter for UK house-building for new homes, since 2004.
New homes built by the Company have received excellent comments from the NHBC organisation and they are proud to record that no incidents or complaints have been received from the satisfied homeowners.
